Retinal Detachment is a serious eye condition which can threaten the vision and lead to blindness. There are 3 main types of retinal detachment (retinal break, tractional and exudative). The most common type is associated with a retinal tear, and occurs quite suddenly with loss of vision in one part of the vision, quickly leading to total loss of vision in days or few weeks. 

 

Surgery for retinal detachment should be carried out within days or as soon as possible to give the best chance of restoring your vision. The success rate of surgery is 80-95% depending on the particular characteristics of the retinal detachment.
